News Post & Current Inventory

Thank you for taking a look at my website. If you have any questions please email or call.

I have designed a smaller bodied guitar with similar dimensions as a OOO, but has the distinctive Vail shape. I call it the "Newport" model. The Newport is also available in a traditional soft cutaway. The Newport prototype that is currently in production has Madagascar rosewood back & sides, Adirondack spruce top, bold herringbone rosette & purfling, & 12 fret slotted headstock. The headstock will have red shell torch inlay & the ebony fret board will have a red shell snowflake inlay design. Due to the success of my MJ ( mini jumbo) model I have customer orders which take first priority! Therefore, the prototype sits on the shelf awaiting finish. You can take a sneak peek by clicking on the "Newport" on the Models page.

Additional spec guitars in production:
  • MJC6 Philippine mahogany back & sides. Spruce Top.

Look for coming pics & specs on these guitars and of course deposits are welcomed on these guitars!

Completed spec guitars for sale:
MJC-6 Figured Cherry wood back & sides, German Spruce top, Macasser ebony fret board, Madagascar rosewood binding & bridge, fret board inlays in abalone, black Sperzal locking tuners, LR Baggs active element pick up with volume control, & hardshell case. $2950.00.

From Gary Vail - Luthier Of Vail Guitars

In the world of guitar making today your choice of style & appointments are only limited by the boundaries of your imagination. Your new guitar could be a wonderful work of art, worthy of display in a gallery, or a dependable work horse accompanying you from gig to gig.

I think most of you would like to be somewhere in the middle of those two worlds. My own personal satisfaction comes from hearing the music created by people with their Vail Guitars.

My hope as a luthier is that people would be open to change in their thinking regarding tonewoods. You don't need a clone of what everybody else has. The variations in wood excites me. Just as God has created human beings as unique individuals, every tree that grows is unique and  beautiful in its own way! There is a new hybrid soundboard board that God
has cloned. Its called Lutz spruce. It is a cross pollination of sitka & engleman. To find out more about it contact my friend Shane Neifer- my supplier. His website will explain more about it. www.highmountaintonewood.com And remember we try to think "Green" when we build. What we use to build guitars is like crumbs from the table compared to the waste that goes on these days!!
